Even though Crime and Intelligence Analysts often work in a police department, most times they are not government employees. As an external consultant for the Anti-Drug division of the Italian Police, Roberto Capodieci began developing computer programs to analyze intelligence data from the age of 16 years old (in 1990). Since then he has always been hired as a consultant in several LEAs in Italy and abroad, working with intelligence officers who gather information by field observation, confidential information sources, and public records before using specialist computer software and technology to analyze the collected data and produce reports of their findings. Roberto Capodieci helps LEAs to link and chart suspects to criminal organizations or events to determine who is doing what with whom; analyze telephone activity to determine the size and location of criminal groups and individuals involved; etc. The analyzed data produce intelligence information to establish criminal profiles including criminal relationships aiding the process of connecting members with the criminal organization, localizing them, extracting their behaviors and habits. Roberto Capodieci main expertise is in investigating crime data and other information sources to identify patterns of criminal activity. Roberto Capodieci assists investigators in understanding how patterns of criminal activity are linked, targeting individuals and their networks.
